Any.do - To do list & Calendar App Reviews

Using it but hoping for some obvious UI changes

I like it BUT there are some things that need a work over and if implemented, I will get a year subscription. 1) Needs to be able to reorganize the lists. I can’t move my “personal” list to the bottom and that’s just annoying. 2) Need to be able to see how many subtasks are from a glance. There is so much free room that is just begging to be used. Put a number of the subtasks somewhere on the line for each task. And make it clickable so that I can quickly glance at the subtasks and not have to leave the screen just to see it for a moment. 3) When trying to edit the subtasks or notes on the item in the list, you have to click the item and then click the notes or subtask button. It sounds silly to be an issues but maybe have a setting where you decide which one appears first (right now it’s the share function; which I will never use) so that you don’t have to keep pointing and clicking OR set it so that it remembers the last thing you were in. If these are implemented, I’ll probably get the year subscription because otherwise THIS IS A GREAT APP and I really appreciate the work you guys have done. I just can’t give more stars to something so unintuitive.

It’s ok

This app is kinda nice, very simple, but it really doesn’t seem to be an app, it seems it’s just a web browsing window running their site exclusively. The update still didn’t get rid of the useless Menubar icon. Dissapointing. I want to like it, but it’s not happening so far.

Hangs on start

This app does not work at all..it just hangs on starting and I have to force quit it everytime…any ideas on how to fix?

Thank you!

The lists are finally usable with the 3.0 update!

3.0 is better, but still unusable

Update 3.0.0: Some bugs were fixed, but application still remains unusable. There are tons of reasons I can’t list here (I mailed it to support team). Update: After 5 tries during one month it fainally works, but I’d better use in browser. This app is a simple webview that is crappy an lags. Also no support for retina displays. Just a blank white window. Context menu has only ‘Reload’. Is this a bloody web view or something? It’s not even an application. I’m sad.

‘Premium’ features were once free

Location based reminders, any.do moments (this is amusing, worthless but daily are ‘premium’, recocurring tasks- cmon. FIrst off, those things mentioned arent premium featues. Any task related app has those automatically included. We have gps on our phones, the hard work has been done. Secondly, the majority of these were normal free features a few years ago. See ‘premium’ means extra/out of the ordinary. Not taking basic task app features away and calling them ‘Premium’. That’s basic business 101, once you call something free- that’s what it’s worth. You can’t go backwards and expect people to see it as value. Plus they arent of any value- every task app has these as normal fatures. And for $45/year is a goof. Oops, excuse me. Now it’s $25. Keep going, you’re almost at the right price point- $1. that’s the magic number. You guys made a lot of buzz a few years back about a basic, nice gui task manager. Since then, you’ve clearly lost your way. Hence why you’re no longer mentioned as a daily task/to do must have. What a shame.

Just a poorly written app

Don’t bother, there is much better To-Do apps in the app store. This is one has so many bugs, or the developer was just lazy. This app couldn’t even save a profile picture for my account. Dates set for items suddenly would change or go missing all together. After 3 versions and still this bad I think they should give up and let some else take over this project. How this ended up on Apple’s Editors Choice list just goes to show it was not for a well written app but instead willing to pay to be on the list.

This used to be my all time favorite

As other users have reported, several of the nuances of this app used to be free, but now are packaged as premium items. Repeating tasks, for one. That is a basic need for any to do app, but I’m not paying for that. The subtasks are seen a click away, and not with the project in context with other projects. I keep coming back, and excited by the new look, etc. and use it robustly for a week, but once again I come away disappointed. The work flow and visibility are just not logical. I’m sticking with my current to do app, which is not Any.Do.

I’ve come to use it more than my others task apps for its sweet workflow

I haven’t seen any other todo apps out there that have a workflow similar to that of trello, and i really enjoy having that functionality on a stand-alone app on my mac and iPhone. Version 2 was really struggling with some basic limitations for average office workflows, and I must say that they have listened and implemented a lot of community suggestions including some of my own, and they have fixed tons of bugs that were an inconvenience in the past. In my usage of version 3.0 i have seen very few bugs, mostly aesthetic, but it’s still a solid task manager, and I trust that they’re working at it. I enjoy its use on a day to day basis for my task management as a graphic designer, and I can’t let negative reviews reign. I can agree that there are other more robust task manager applications out there, but this one is simple, and has a different workflow than most out there. It syncs well with their mobile app which is a flawless app. After using may other task mangement applications, I’m loving Any.Do for my workflow as a designer, and I am glad to see their updates. They shouldn’t give up. They have something very solid so far. Try it, and leave an honest review. People tend to only leave a review when they have problems, not when they’re enjoying things, I don’t think it’s fair for Any.Do.

I tried again

I used to love Any.Do until the did an upgrade that made it worse. Today I tried v3 hoping they made it better and found out it doesn’t collect task from my old task list. Since I don’t want to copy 1 by 1 I deleted Any.do for the 2nd time.

I think this app offers something unique

Clearly certain people aren’t happy with this app. However, I am for the most part. I have tested many task and productivity apps and this one has a different offering. The layout and workflow are simple. Perhaps the users that aren’t happy with it organize their tasks differently, but Any.do is nice for those that like to visually see their main categories of focus. It is similar to a mindmap, but stripped down. Yes, there are far more robust and advanced tasks apps out there. Yes, Any.do has plenty of room for improvement with workflow along with minor bugs. Nevertheless, the visuals of this app pair well with how my mind prefers tasks to be organized. Other apps focus so heavily on sidebars and straight hierarchy. Any.do has visual squares for the categories and lists of your life, and then enables you to see your tasks associated with each cateogry from left to right rather than simply a top-down list. Don’t immediately run away because of other reviews. I didn’t and I’m glad I didn’t. And you, Any.do team members, keep working. Don’t give up. The foundation here is great. Keep working out the kinks. I look forward to updates in the near future.

Best I Have Found

I have tried countless to do list apps, and while none of them have been perfect, or even close to perfect for that matter, this is the best. It just makes having a simple list of things to get done so simple.

All but one of my tasks disappeared today

Was just starting to like the simplicity of this application. Earlier today, all my tasks were showing including completed. Then poof, all but one is there and the rest disappeared. Contact the support desk and got a canned response. Replied and no answer. Any suggestions for another easy to use To Do App?

Cleanest looking of all to-do’s

This is the cleanest, easiest to-do app ever. I’ve tried them all. It has a few things they need to work on but I’m gonna use it because it’s so easy, I’ll use it. If that makes sense. Great job. Keep working on it and it will be the best of them all.

I wish this worked better…but it is only getting worse.

I really like the streamlined look and simplicity of this app when I first bought it. However, it has too many bugs—particularly since it’s last update. Holy cow, one would think that updates should make something better—instead it got worse. It takes minutes for the app to open on the desk to open—if it opens at all. Sometimes I’ve waited 4 or 5 minutes without it ever opening just to see how long it would take, with no luck. Sometimes I have to shut it down and attempt to open it two or three times before it launches. Now the phone app won’t delete subtasks. Since I paid for it, I hope they fix it.

*sigh*

Disappointed - I really liked the idea of this, but it refused to even open. I waited for it to load for at least 10 minutes. Uninstalling.

Satisfied

M pretty much satisfied with this tool and happy too that this is available for free. Nice job

UI problem

When I try to rescale the window, the columns don’t change at the same time. So sometimes the column may out of the window, I can’t see what I type...

interface

The interface is redundant (there’s like 4 places to get settings). Extremely poorly written app. Its just too bad its the only task app that lets you "plan your day”. Any.do started off as being brilliant. It just kept getting worse.

OK, but NOT the iPhone app

I fell in love with this app for my iPhone and I still rely on it. I don’t find it buggy like other people have. My biggest anoyance is that the Any.Do Moment feature that really set Any.Do apart from other apps is STILL not a part of the desktop app. This is surprising, as the description her in the App store says that is is…but it’s not. If you want get quick eval of your day done, then you better have your phone available. C’mon…how great would it be if that helpful prompt to organize my day showed up on my desktop while working. Why is this STILL not here?
